Besides his research degree in Biophotonics, Abed Ayyad also has an advanced degree in chemistry, and has been involved with different computer programming projects, for both academic and commercial purposes.

Abed has also had experience as a writer and journalist, with his work recently appearing as commentary on the cartoons of the late Palestinian cartoonist, Naji Al-Ali. He currently freelances as a consultant for a number of organisations in the UK.

In terms of the future, he is looking to help find policies which would be more conducive to education and scientific development in the Middle East.
