Doing our part for a clean event
We have announced last year our commitment to try and make TEDxDubai as green as possible by limiting the amount of paper, carbon footprint and inviting every attendee to participate with us. This year again, we are not producing any paper admission ticket, or badge or plastic anything, instead we are maintaining an online registration process that will issue an individual QCR code that we will scan at registration and match to a real ID. Instead of issuing badges we have chosen to make the TEDxDubai Bag the distinctive badge that you will wear during the day to show your admittance. We have chosen the Dubai World Trade Center as convenient venue for this purpose enabling all participant to utilize the conveniently located train that is only few steps from Sheikh Saeed Hall, where the event will take place. We are still looking into trying to calculate the equivalent of the carbon emissions for the flights of our overseas speakers and we will find the best way to counter balance that too. We hope you will participate and contribute by choosing to share a car with someone if you cannot use the train. Furthermore we are not printing any brochure or event program, we are moving that information to a mobile website that will enhance your experience on the day of the event and reduce waste.
Keep checking this space for more initiatives to be announced in the coming days.
Until then, spread ideas, and participate
